Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area

The Village of Lithopolis has a 15.3-acre area within the downtown business district called a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area or DORA.

A Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) allows for licensed businesses within the area to sell alcoholic beverages in specially marked plastic cups that can be enjoyed outside during events.

 

 

DORA Ordinance

An ordinance creating a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) in the Village of Lithopolis. According to the Ohio Revised Code (ORC) Section 4301.82 a municipality with a population of less than thirty-five thousand is permitted to created a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) as long as the proposed area will included at least two qualified permit holders and be compressed of one hundred fifty or few contiguous acres.

The Village of Lithopolis DORA would provide that any person of legal age who is opening an open container of beer, wine or intoxicating liquor within the established DORA limits that has been purchased from an establishment within said limit to be exempt from Ohio’s Open Container Law.

DORA Dos and Don'ts

  • DO have only DORA beverages in designated cups

  • DON’T carry DORA cups from one serving establishment into another

  • DO have Dora Cups Stay within the boundaries

  • DON’T take DORA cups outside of the boundaries

  • DO check business entrances to see if you can bring your DORA beverage with you

  • DON’T enter a business with a red “Beverages not welcome” sign

  • DO throw away your DORA cup in a trash can
